Dr. Christy Mesaros-Winckles teaches introduction to communication theory, interpersonal communication, persuasion, public relations campaign management and strategic planning (PR II), intercultural communication, organizational communication, mass media criticism and capstone.

She has a doctorate degree in communication studies, a graduate certificate in women studies from Bowling Green State University and an MA in communication studies/professional writing from Spring Arbor University. Her dissertation “Only God Knows the Opposition We Face: The Rhetoric of Nineteenth Century Free Methodist Women’s Quest for Ordination” won the 2013 Dissertation of the Year Award from the Religious Communication Association and her research on gender representation in mediated culture has been published in The Journal of Religion and Popular Culture as well as The International Review of Qualitative Research. She has co-authored several book chapters on topics ranging from family communication, evangelical media and reality television. She also has been cited in Marie Claire, Salon and Good magazines as an academic commentator for gender representation in Christian patriarchy culture.

Professor Michael Neal teaches the digital media production sequence, fiction filmmaking, documentary filmmaking, film history, survey of mass communication and the capstone course sequence for the BFA degree.

His MA is from Tiffin University in Humanities with a focus on film making. Professor Neal is involved with the Adrian International Film Festival that was created in 2018. There was a total of 38 films at the festival, ranging from documentaries to animation. He also has one feature length documentary, available on Amazon Prime, called “Bud Fowler and the Page Fence Giants,” and is currently working on a second feature length documentary.

Professor Neal also has his own company called Corked Media that has produced over 300 videos for area businesses and nonprofits since 2013. He loves what he does and is happy to share that with students.
