Founded in 1880, The College World is the oldest surviving campus organization at Adrian College. For 145 years, it has served as the voice of Adrian’s student body. In those years, we have reported on the growth and affairs of an expanding college campus, its hopes and dreams, fears and regrets. The College World has been a record of the feelings of the student body on both national and local issues of importance. We have had such a profound impact on the development and growth of Adrian College that Professor Douglas MacNaughton’s 1994 single-volume history of Adrian College is practically a series of footnotes to the College World.
As a student-run college newspaper, there are a number of values that we hold sacred. We believe in holding up the highest possible standards of objectivity. We want to tell stories that are true and even-handed, telling both sides of every story we write and publish.We also believe in highlighting student voices and opinions. If the Adrian College campus community feels a certain way about a campus policy, it is our goal to represent, as well as we can, the feelings of the student body.
We intend to highlight student and professor perspectives on issues of national and international importance. Matters of contention like elections, social issues, and international incidents deserve to be covered in a serious collegiate publication like the College World.
