Brodie Lobb, BSW, LLMSW

For my full-time role, I'm currently working as a clinical therapist at a private practice in Southfield, Michigan where I completed my MSW field practicum and have been officially working since September 2020. I'm working exclusively with the LGBT+ community and primarily with transgender and nonbinary clients across the lifespan, using a variety of therapeutic modalities to provide gender-affirming mental healthcare to support clients in pursuing their transitions and to address additional mental health concerns. In addition to seeing clients for ongoing mental health concerns, I also have a professional relationship with Powers Family Medicine in Farmington, Michigan to conduct singular informed consent sessions for their patients preparing to begin gender-affirming hormone therapy, and conducting assessments for short-term clients who are seeking gender-affirming procedures, most of which result in writing a letter of support that meets the WPATH Standards of Care.

I'm also working part-time with PrideZone, a support group for LGBT+ young people through Ozone House in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Most recently, I passed my LMSW licensure exam in December 2021 and have begun working on two projects to expand knowledge and skills for providing transition-related mental healthcare among therapists and social workers in the area.

My time in the Social Work program at Adrian College prepared me for my current roles first by supporting my passion for working with the LGBT+ community and working with me to find a field placement that focused on working with the same community. The social work professors at Adrian fostered my commitment to implementing trauma-informed care as well as my advocacy skills at micro, mezzo, and macro levels, all of which are applied on a regular basis with all of my clients.
