Greg Thompson

Professor, Physics, Department Chair

Dr. Thompson received a B.S. in Physics from the University of Michigan – Dearborn in 1999. After taking a year off, he earned a M.S. in Physics from Eastern Michigan University in 2003. His research at EMU involved numerical computations in causal set kinematics (causal set theory is one approach to quantum gravity). Dr. Thompson then completed his Ph.D. in Physics with an Astrophysics concentration at the University of Toledo in 2009. His research at UT focused on time-series analysis of H and He lines found in the visible spectrum of the hot supergiant star epsilon Orionis. His most recent research has involved the observation and characterization of double-star systems. Dr. Thompson also serves as the adviser for pre-engineering and engineering dual-degree students at Adrian.
