Kameron Marlowe adds Adrian College to ‘Keepin’ The Lights On’ tour

Posted Wednesday, January 15, 2025

American country music singer-songwriter Kameron Marlowe will be “Keepin’ The Lights On” when he performs at Adrian College’s Spring Concert on Friday, March 21, as part of his national tour.

General admission tickets are $50 and can be reserved online through HomeTown Ticketing on Adrian College’s listing.

Marlowe added Adrian College to his extended “Keepin’ The Lights On” tour while performing five shows in the United Kingdom. He returned to the U.S. this month for his first concert of the new year in Athens, GA., on January 23.

Thomas Doney, dean of students at Adrian College, said he was thrilled to have Adrian College on Marlowe’s 2025 tour.

“We wanted to do country again this year,” Doney said. “We have a really big turnout every time we do country music; our student body really likes it.”

Doney said his department has been fortunate with its last few picks for a main headliner.

“We look for an artist we see is on the rise,” Doney said. “We’ve had great country artists here before — Russell Dickerson, Mitchell Tenpenny, Nate Smith. Both of the last two artists were recently nominated for new country artist of the year at the CMAs. So, we have a pretty good idea of who’s up and coming and going to be the next big star. Kameron Marlowe has been on our radar the last few years. I’m really grateful we were able to get him this year.”

With one billion on-demand career streams, Marlowe has had a string of sold-out shows from coast to coast, with more than 50,000 tickets sold last year.

His song, “Tennessee Don’t Mind,” was a People’s Choice Country Awards nominee for new song of 2024. His collaboration with Ella Langley on “Strangers” has been climbing the charts with rave reviews.

Marlowe is no stranger to the big stage, opening for Brad Paisley, Riley Green, Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, and Thomas Rhett.

“Everyone I’ve toured with is an incredible artist, and I try to take a piece from each person that we go out with,” Marlowe said.

Marlowe made his sophomore album, Keepin’ The Lights On, from personal experiences.

“My family was never rich; we’ve always just made it by. And for the first time ever, I saw my dad kind of be humbled when he lost his job of almost 20 years working in a magnet factory. He came to me and was like, ‘Man, I really don’t know how I’m gonna keep the lights on,’” Marlowe said. “This music industry is so hard, and it can mentally drain you and screw you up, but when I started my career, I made a promise to myself that as hard as it would get, I would always try and tell the truth and do this the right way versus just chasing whatever’s working at the time. This song represents that for me and that’s why it had to be the album title.”

The North Carolina-based artist is said to have a big heart, unveiling a charitable fund with the same title, Keepin’ The Lights On (KTLO), last year, aimed at helping alleviate the burdens of those struggling to make ends meet.

“The KTLO Fund is super special to me because in the song, I sing about my parents making sure we had shoes on our feet and food on our plates,” Marlowe said. “Times are tough out there, and I wanted to pay it forward where I can!”

All of the money raised from one of Marlowe’s promotional merchandise sales during the Adrian concert will go toward his KTLO Fund, he said.

Doors to the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center open at 7 p.m., with the first performance scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
