Adrian College’s Department of Art and Design announced its annual Faculty and Staff Art Exhibition will run from January 13 to February 3 in the Hickman Gallery.
The Hickman Gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by appointment. Admission is free.
A public reception for the Faculty and Staff Art Exhibition will be held Thursday, Jan. 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Hickman Gallery. The event offers guests an opportunity to meet the artists, discuss their creative processes, and celebrate Adrian College’s vibrant art community. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
Travis Erxleben, chair of the Adrian College Department of Art and Design and director of the Hickman Gallery, said the exhibition provides a unique opportunity to experience the creative endeavors of the department’s faculty, whose expertise spans various media and artistic styles.
“This exhibition is a testament to the creativity and dedication of our faculty,” Erxleben said. “It’s a chance to see the remarkable work our faculty produce, which enriches both their personal practices and the education they offer to our students. We invite everyone to engage with this vibrant collection.”
Ellen Zentera, an Adrian College senior in the Department of Art and Design, is this year’s assistant gallery director. Zentera serves in the role as part of an internship designed to give students hands-on experience running a professional art gallery.
“This internship has been an incredible opportunity to learn the ins and outs of gallery management,” Zentera said. “The Annual Faculty and Staff Exhibition is a wonderful showcase of our professors’ talent, and I’m honored to help present their works to the community.”
Also participating in the internship program is Maxx Buie, another Adrian College senior in the Department of Art and Design, who Erxleben said has been instrumental in assisting with exhibition logistics and visitor engagement.
“Being part of this internship has opened my eyes to the detailed work that goes into curating exhibitions,” Buie said. “It’s inspiring to see the creative process of our faculty, and I’m proud to play a role in sharing it with others.”
