Country pop star Russell Dickerson commits with Adrian College to headline annual Spring Concert

Russell Dickerson, a multiplatinum Nashville-based country pop singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, has recently committed to be the feature performer at Adrian College’s annual Spring Concert, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, March 18, in the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.
Tickets are $25 each for the general public and can be purchased online at adrian.edu/springconcert. Adrian College students can download their tickets for free through the same link.
Adrian College Assistant Dean of Students Thomas Doney said it took some doing to get a star of Dickerson’s caliber to Adrian’s campus as concert venues have begun springing back up across the country, but it was well worth the effort and negotiations.
“Russell Dickerson will definitely put on a great show,” Doney said. “After having to cancel our annual spring concert for the past two years, we wanted to bring a top performer to the stage that would really excite and entertain our students.”
Dickerson has established himself as a prolific songwriter and powerhouse showman. In 2017, his gold-certified full-length debut, Yours, placed No. 5 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and No. 1 on the Emerging Artists Chart. It also yielded three consecutive No. 1 smashes, including the double-platinum “Yours” (christened “One of the hottest wedding songs of the year” by The Knot), the platinum “Blue Tacoma,” and “Every Little Thing.” Nominations followed at the Academy of Country Music Awards, CMT Music Awards, and iHeartRadio Music Awards.
Among his many highlights in 2020, Dickerson received a nod in the category of “Best New Male Artist of the Year” at the Academy of Country Music Awards. He also entertained audiences on tour with the likes of Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line, Darius, Lady A, and Kane Brown, in addition to bringing the “RD Party” to sold out venues everywhere as a headliner.
Dickerson’s second full-length album, Southern Symphony [Triple Tigers], was released on December 4, 2020 and features the singles “Love You Like I Used To,” “Home Sweet,” and “Never Gets Old.”
“Southern Symphony was real and raw,” Dickerson said. “We weren’t trying to get quirky. Honestly, it was meant to be a bunch of big ole country bangers.
“When you hear this, I hope you feel excitement, hope, and happiness in life,” Dickerson added. “I want to be a good steward in these songs. There’s joy all around. I’m trying to spread a little bit of that. It’s exactly what the world needs right now — and always.”
Opening acts are still being confirmed and will be announced when details are finalized.
