Adrian College will present its Bob and Jean Lok Freligh Community Lecture Series as a video, beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, with this year’s event titled The Bulldog Bistro featuring Chef Andrew Johns of Sodexo, an international food services and facilities management company.
Johns and his special “sous-chef” guest, Adrian College President Jeffrey Docking, will show viewers how to prepare a salmon entrée with a citrus beurre blanc sauce. Accompanying side dishes include wild rice pilaf and baby carrots.
“We are so excited to bring everybody together without really getting together for this cooking demonstration,” Docking said. “We’ve been thinking, what can we do this year that brings everybody together, to have something fun going on that reminds them of Adrian College? We thought, what better way to do that than with food?”
The General Manager of Sodexo at Adrian College, Nick Moorehead, will show viewers how to make a Sidecar cocktail, traditionally made with cognac, orange liqueur and lemon juice. Moorehead will add a unique twist of Rosemary Simple Syrup to his Sidecar recipe.
Johns said just about anyone will be able to follow his instructions to prepare the meal.
“Whether you are new to cooking or an accomplished cook looking for inspiration, this will be for you!” he said.
Johns studied at the Culinary Institute of America in New York, worked as a sous chef for the Rose and Thistle in Perrysburg, Ohio and served as the general manager and food service director for Jefferson Schools through Sodexo.
Johns became the executive chef on the campus of Adrian College in August of 2019. He has prepared thousands of meals in Ritchie Marketplace since then, including unique recipes created for holidays and special occasions.

The Freligh Community Lecture Series honors the late Bob and Jean Freligh, longtime supporters and friends of Adrian College. An anonymous donation to honor the Frelighs was made in 2013 and has brought many nationally and internationally known speakers to Adrian College.
