After graduating from Adrian College in 2015 with a Communication Arts degree, Jay Hannah returns to his alma mater as the Media Production Services director, replacing Gabe Schray, who recently accepted a position as a marketing specialist with AstroTurf Corporation in Georgia.

“Jay (Hannah) will be a perfect addition to our Media Production House as we continue to expand our broadcasting opportunities at Adrian College,” Frank Hribar, vice president of enrollment and student affairs, said. “With Jay’s experience in news and sports broadcasting, our Bulldog fans will see extremely high quality ACTV live video feeds, and our students will receive guidance and supplemental instruction from a true professional.”

Hannah’s first job out of college was with News Channel Nebraska, an independent radio and television network. Hannah held the titles of Sports Director and Multimedia Journalist with the network, overseeing the live production of high school and collegiate athletics, and putting together news and sports stories for broadcasts. He was also the voice of Doane University football.

After a couple of years out west, Hannah moved back east, to Northwest Ohio, where he worked as a multimedia journalist for WNWO (NBC 24) in Toledo, Ohio for three years, presenting news stories on a daily basis.

“I was able to go out into the real world and get some valuable experience right out of college,” Hannah said. “I learned a lot about television, radio and all aspects of the media production business. So, it is an honor to have this opportunity to give back to students.”

Hannah said the campus has grown a lot since he was last there, and he is excited to be able to help Adrian College continue to expand, especially in the field of communications.

“It’s so much bigger than when I went to school here,” Hannah said. “The idea of Adrian College being able to grow even more is an exciting opportunity to me.”

Hannah has some big plans for ACTV and the Media Production House. His goals are to continue expanding ACTV while helping students gain valuable experience so they can be an asset to any broadcasting station in the nation.

“The most important thing to me is to develop these students and give them as much real world experience as possible,” Hannah said. “We will incorporate the newest technologies and update some of the equipment, and continue making overall improvements as my predecessors have done.”

Hannah plans on instructing a broadcasting class as well. He said he will be able to help incorporate those students into broadcasting and give them a good understanding of the field so they can determine if it is a career they want to pursue.

“I’ve worked in news, I’ve worked in TV, and I’ve always wanted to get back into the college atmosphere and work experience,” Hannah said. “Everything worked out just perfectly.”

Hannah is married to Elise Waller Hannah, a 2015 Adrian College graduate, who is also in the broadcasting field.
