Adrian College has a new Office of Marketing and Public Relations Director as Sarah Symington advanced into the position on Monday, Nov. 30, replacing Hollie Smith who accepted a job as a brand marketing director for ScaleTrains.com in Benton, Tenn. to be closer to her extended family.

Symington has worked at Adrian College as a graphic designer in the marketing department since September of 2018 and Frank Hribar, vice president, enrollment and student affairs, said it was an easy decision to have her step up into the marketing department’s lead role.

“Sarah (Symington) has done an incredible job for us as a graphic designer and I’m very confident she will maintain the high standard we have come to expect from that department,” Hribar said. “She also brings a high level of professionalism that will be an asset when responding to public relation inquiries.”

Sarah’s husband, Jeremy, works at Adrian College as the Arrington Arena General Manager and Director of Operations.

“Jeremy has been with Adrian College for nine years now,” Sarah said. “He’s also a goalie coach for all of the hockey teams. We just love being a part of the Adrian College family!”

Sarah said she isn’t planning on making any major changes to the Office of Marketing and Public Relations Department right away but will focus on maintaining the high quality branding that’s associated with the Adrian College Bulldogs.

“I’m going to key in on sharing the Bulldog experience with our students and alumni,” Sarah said. “Our branding has been very successful in bringing in new students, so I am going to continue reaching out to them to let them know what the Adrian College experience is all about.”

Sarah graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design Communication in 2004.

Sarah has since worked for RJ Michaels, an advertising agency in Jackson, Mich., the Hamblin Co., in Tecumseh, Mich., and the Gleaner Life Insurance Society in Adrian, Mich. She also owns her own graphic design firm, Symmetry Design, and works as a freelance graphic designer.

The Symingtons currently live in Onsted with their four children, Sean (11), Cade (9) and four-year-old twins Lizzie and Leo.
