Adrian College TRIO Student Support Services awarded $1.6 million grant

Posted Thursday, August 20, 2020

Adrian College’s TRIO Student Support Services Program recently received funding for the next five years through the Student Support Services Program of the United States Department of Education. The total funding for the next academic year is $338,972, and the total award for the five-year period of the grant will be over $1.6 million.
Adrian College TRIO Director Ben Ernst said the purpose of the Student Support Services Program is to provide academic and other support to eligible college students. The grant promotes higher retention and graduation rates by fostering an institutional climate supportive of the success of first generation college students, students from low-income households, and students with disabilities.

Program services include instruction in basic study skills, tutorial services, academic, financial, or personal counseling, assistance in securing admission and financial aid for enrollment in graduate and professional programs, guidance on career options and grant aid.

“It’s been an honor to serve our TRIO students and I am so proud of the incredible accomplishments our program and its students has seen in its almost 40 years on campus,” Ernst said. “We are blessed to have the support of both Adrian College and the Department of Education as we continue this important work.”
