The Valade Gallery at Adrian College is currently hosting the Society for Photographic Education (SPE) Multicultural Caucus exhibition. The show is on display and open to the public through Friday, Oct. 25. A reception is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m., with Deborah Orloff giving an artist talk at 5:30 p.m.
SPE is a leading forum for fostering understanding of photography in all its forms and related media. The SPE website states the organization tries to engage its worldwide membership and affiliated communities through a range of supportive platforms including conferences, events and publications.
The SPE’s Multicultural Caucus supports and promotes multicultural image makers and image making in regional, national and international contexts. The Multicultural Caucus functions as a venue for discussion of cultural issues by people of diverse backgrounds; and the SPE website notes it confronts visual, educational and social-political issues with integrity, honesty and justice. Everyone is welcome.
The Valade Gallery is located in the Shipman Library, off Williams Street. Gallery hours are Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Thursday until 7 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
