Chief Justice McCormack to present Adrian College Constitution Day Address

Bridget Mary McCormack, Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court, will be the guest speaker at Adrian College’s 10th Annual Philip J. Prygoski Constitution Day Address from 12-1 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in Dawson Auditorium. The event is hosted by the Adrian College Romney Institute for Law and Public Policy. Chief Justice McCormack’s presentation is titled, “Forensic Science and the Constitution — Due Process and the Sixth Amendment.”

Chief Justice McCormack joined the Michigan Supreme Court in January 2013, and became the Chief Justice in January 2019.

In 2013, Chief Justice McCormack was elected to The American Law Institute. The following year, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology appointed her to the National Commission on Forensic Science. Chief Justice McCormack serves as an editor on the American Bar Association’s preeminent journal, “Litigation,” and as a member of the National Conference of Bar Examiners Torts Drafting Committee. She continues to teach at the University of Michigan as well as publish in professional journals and law media.

A New York University Law graduate, Chief Justice McCormack joined the Yale Law School faculty in 1996, and then joined the University of Michigan Law School faculty in 1998, where she taught criminal law, legal ethics, and various clinics. Chief Justice McCormack was named Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs in 2002.

Chief Justice McCormack and her husband, Steven Croley, a partner at Latham and Watkins, have four children.
