The IndieFlix original documentary “Angst” will be featured at Adrian College in the Adrian Tobias Room on Wednesday, March 13. A reception is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be followed by opening remarks and dinner. The film begins at 6 p.m. A panel discussion with questions and answers will take place after the documentary. This Adrian College event is part of the Kartemquin Film Series and is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and a RSVP to academicaffairs@adrian.edu by Wednesday, Feb. 27 is required to attend.

Anxiety is one of the most common mental health issues in the world, according to the World Health Organization. “Angst” is a 55-minute film and virtual reality experience that explores anxiety, its causes, its effects and what society can do about it. The filmmakers’ goals are to open a global conversation and raise awareness around anxiety. “Angst” features candid interviews with kids and young adults who suffer, or have suffered, from anxiety and what they’ve learned about it. The film includes an interview with Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time, discussions with mental health experts about the causes of anxiety and its sociological effects, as well as help, resources and tools.

Scilla Andreen, the executive producer of the documentary, said she wanted to bring a lot of people together, even from an early age, to talk about “mental health, brain health.”

“Anxiety seemed to be the perfect starting point,” she said in a video on angstmovie.com. “And we all have it. Everybody has anxiety and it’s actually a good thing. There’s just sort of a tipping point … This is for everyone. Anxiety doesn’t discriminate whether you’re a girl or urban or whatever color or celebrity, socioeconomic background, it doesn’t matter.”
