An Adrian College Convocation has been scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 5 at noon, in the Herrick Chapel where Von Washington, Jr., the Executive Director of Community Relations for the Kalamazoo Promise, will present “Generations in the Workforce — Creativity-A Step Ahead.” The event is free and open to the public.

The Kalamazoo Promise is the only scholarship of its kind in the nation. The program provides resident high school graduates of the Kalamazoo Public Schools with scholarships worth up to 100 percent of tuition and mandatory fees at Michigan’s public universities, community colleges and 14 private institutions, including Adrian College.

Washington, Jr. works closely with key community stakeholders and media relations to promote a system of communication and information around a common vision of becoming an educated community. He previously visited Adrian College to address President Jeffery Docking’s Leadership Class on the importance of service in communities. Washington Jr. was an educator for over 20 years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Western State University of Colorado and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University.

During the Convocation, Adrian College will be recognizing faculty who have been promoted and new faculty members. The college will also present two faculty teaching awards, and the Creative Activity, Research and Scholarship Award (CARS).

This Adrian College Ribbons Endorsed event highlights developing creativity. For more information, call Adrian College at 517-265-5161 or visit its website at Adrian.edu.
