AC Fund of the Month

January Fund of the Month

The ASSIST (Anonymous Scholarship Support In Stressful Times) Fund

The ASSIST (Anonymous Scholarship Support In Stressful Times) Fund was created by anonymous donors on January 9, 2009 in an effort to help Adrian College students who are in good academic standing, but are unable to stay at Adrian College because of an outstanding balance on their student account. The initial gift came from an alumna who remembered that her mother was the recipient of a $50 scholarship back in the 1930’s. This scholarship was important because it not only helped her mother out financially, but gave her the reassurance that Adrian College believed in her as a student. This fund will provide assistance for students to return to Adrian College, register for classes, and continue work toward degree completion. Since the first gift in 2009, hundreds of additional donors have generously stepped forward to support the ASSIST Fund. To date, over 450 students have received help from the ASSIST Fund. Said one recent student recipient in her thank you note, “I love Adrian College. Words can’t even begin to thank you enough for believing in me and other students who receive this great scholarship and get to stay at this wonderful College. I can’t wait to be in a position where I can do the same for future AC students.”

February Fund of the Month

Dr. Robin Luana Bott Study Abroad Scholarship

Dr. Robin Bott was a tremendous advocate for students in their pursuit of studying abroad.  Dr. Bott’s passion was clearly evident as she helped students put together valuable and life-changing experiences outside of the United States. From the very first May Tour in May of 2000 to the present day, hundreds of students have been able to expand their comfort zones and learn all over the world through the guidance of Drs. Robin and Bryan Bott. Sadly, Robin passed away on December 18, 2016, after battling cancer courageously for many years. The Dr. Robin Luana Bott Study Abroad Scholarship was created not only to recognize Robin’s passion, but to also continue to assist Adrian College students in making their study abroad dreams a reality. To date, nearly 500 gifts have been made to Robin’s scholarship, a testament of not only the students whose lives she impacted, but also the impact Robin made on the Adrian College community as well.

And now for an exciting announcement... the Institute for Study Abroad will officially be renamed the Dr. Robin Luana Bott Institute for Study Abroad! A ceremony and ribbon cutting will take place on Friday, September 17, 2021, as part of the Adrian College Homecoming festivities. There will be more information coming out over the next few months, but we anticipate a wonderful turnout from everyone who has been impacted by Robin and would like to connect with the study abroad community of Adrian College in her honor. Robin.

Additionally, we are formally announcing a $25,000 campaign in honor of the Dr. Robin Bott Institute for Study Abroad. Gifts made in honor of Dr. Robin Bott will be placed in her already created study abroad endowed scholarship fund. The money raised will continue to grow the endowment and will allow additional students to receive scholarships in perpetuity.
