Travel

While F-1 students study at Adrian College, they may wish to travel for any number of reasons. Before traveling, within or outside of the U.S., F-1 students should ensure they have all of their travel documents with them, regardless of whether they are traveling domestically or internationally.

Any F-1 student who wants to travel outside of the U.S. must complete the following steps before their trip:

  • Notify their PDSO/DSO of their travel plans no less than one month prior to the departure date. This notification must include all details of the travel (departure date, destination, return date, reason for travel, etc.)
  • Schedule a time with their PDSO/DSO to have their I-20 signed (if it has not yet been signed)
  • Verify their I-20 and visa will not expire while out of the U.S.
  • Bring the required documents for re-entry to the U.S. and keep them accessible:
    • Valid passport
    • Valid F-1 visa
    • Valid I-20 properly endorsed by the PDSO/DSO

It is important to note that if an F-1 student’s I-20 is not properly endorsed, they will not be able to re-enter the U.S. after traveling internationally.
