Tactical Strength & Conditioning Overview

Tactical Strength & Conditioning is a specialized area within exercise science focused on optimizing the health, performance, and resilience of tactical athletes-those who serve in the military, law enforcement, fire, and rescue professions.

Students in this program complete the same coursework as exercise science majors, with additional training on how to meet the unique physical and occupational demands of tactical populations.

Program Objectives:
• Prepare graduates with the knowledge, skills, and professional credentials to effectively enhance tactical athletes’ performance, reduce injury risk, and promote long-term health and readiness.
• Build partnerships with key organizations, such as military units, law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and fitness organizations, to create valuable career pathways and hands-on learning opportunities.

Minor in Tactical Strength & Conditioning

This minor is ideal for students who are not majoring in exercise science but want a strong foundation in human performance and physical preparedness. It pairs especially well with majors such as criminal justice, business, psychology, and related disciplines.

Minor Program Objectives:
• Provide students with cross-disciplinary knowledge that supports careers in health, military, law enforcement, firefighting, emergency response, and related fields.
• Develop a foundational understanding of the physical demands, challenges, and wellness needs of tactical athletes while promoting overall fitness and performance within the community.
