Art History Overview

Interested in Art History?

Dive into the rich visual and cultural traditions that shape our world. As an Art History minor, you’ll explore a wide range of subjects including contemporary and modern art, Western art and architecture, African and African American art, women’s art, and LGBTQ+ art history.

This minor pairs well with majors such as art, interior design, music, theatre, international business, modern languages and cultures, and English. It’s an excellent foundation for careers in museum and gallery work, historic preservation, or graduate study in the arts and humanities.

Art history students also gain hands-on experience through internships at renowned institutions—from the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C., to the Toledo Museum of Art. Opportunities to study abroad further enrich the program, with past students exploring art and architecture in Spain, Wales, Mexico, Italy, England, Germany, and Japan.
