Bulldog 101

High School students are invited to register for Bulldog 101

Students entering the Accounting concentration at Adrian work with professors who are Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) with real life experience. Our professors are active members of various accounting and finance organizations, such as the American Institute of CPAs, Michigan Association of CPAs, Institute of Management Accountants, and the Society of Financial Services Professionals.

The Accounting program is approved by the Michigan State Board of Accountancy. The program prepares students to enter into and succeed in accounting careers in the public, private, or governmental sectors. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of the technical knowledge behind accounting, the code of ethics of the profession, and the greater responsibility accountants have to society.

As part of the Accounting curriculum, students engage in many projects aimed at developing strong professional skills to help them succeed in their careers. For example, in the Managerial Cost Accounting course, students prepare a detailed scenario analysis on a new product offering for a company and provide appropriate recommendations. The accounting faculty work with senior members in both public accounting and corporate organizations to bring speakers to campus and interact with students. Our faculty encourage students to pursue internships where they take on professional responsibilities in the accounting field to complement their classroom studies.
