Graduate Studies
Pursuing your dream career starts with the next phase of your education. When you enroll in graduate school at Adrian College, you’re beginning more than advanced training in your field; you’re accelerating your professional journey.
Serving the Adrian community in a variety of ways, the Robinson Planetarium supports the teaching of the college’s astronomy courses while also hosting a range of engaging and educational programs throughout the academic year. These shows are free and open to the public. Special shows for K–12 school groups may be arranged by emailing mfairclough@adrian.edu.
The Robinson Planetarium is housed in Peelle Hall, which sits at the corner of Charles and Williams streets. The entrance is on Williams Street.
In April, the planetarium will honor Global Astronomy Month with the full-dome show “From Earth to the Universe.”
The full dome show description notes the 30-minute show will take visitors through space and time: “The night sky, both beautiful and mysterious, has been the subject of campfire stories, ancient myths and awe for as long as there have been people. A desire to comprehend the universe may well be humanity’s oldest shared intellectual experience. Yet only recently have we truly begun to grasp our place in the vast cosmos. To learn about this journey of celestial discovery, from the theories of ancient Greek astronomers to today’s grandest telescopes, we invite you to experience ‘From Earth to the Universe.’ This stunning, 30-minute voyage through space and time conveys, through sparkling sights and sounds, the universe revealed to us by science. Viewers can revel in the splendor of the worlds in the solar system and our scorching sun. ‘From Earth to the Universe’ takes the audience out to the colorful birthplaces and burial grounds of stars, and still further out beyond the Milky Way to the unimaginable immensity of myriad galaxies. Along the way, the audience will learn about the history of astronomy, the invention of the telescope, and today’s giant telescopes that allow us to probe ever deeper into the Universe.”
The planetarium will also address light pollution, a current issue affecting dark skies.
The planetarium shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, April 10, 17 and 24.
Guests should enter through the northeast Williams Street entrance of Peelle Hall. Directional signs will guide visitors to the entrance. The planetarium offers 68 theater-style seats and recommends arriving 10 to 15 minutes early for preferred seating. On-street parking is available on Williams Street.

Built in 1966, the Robinson Planetarium features a 30-foot dome and a Spitz A-3-P star projector. The planetarium is named after distinguished industrialist Herbert Robinson, who provided funds for the construction of the facility. In 2012, the planetarium received a fresh look and Full Dome capabilities, renovations that were funded through generous gifts from the Maurice and Dorothy Stubnitz Foundation.
