Simpson is new AC Marketing and Public Relations Department Director

Claire Simpson has been named Adrian College’s new Marketing and Public Relations Department Director and officially began her new position on April 18. Simpson, a 2014 Adrian College graduate, was promoted to the director position after working as a digital media coordinator at the college for the past 15 months.
Simpson replaces former director Sarah Symington, who is now working in the marketing department at Gleaner Life Insurance Society in Adrian.
“Claire [Simpson] has done an outstanding job for us as our digital media coordinator, and I’m extremely confident she will be the type of leader we need and count on in our marketing and public relations department,” said Frank Hribar, Adrian College Vice President, Enrollment and Student Affairs. “It is always a nice bonus when we can promote from within, and it’s icing on the cake when they are alumni.”
Simpson graduated from Adrian College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication and Journalism.
“Adrian College is like home to me,” Simpson said. “Being able to take everything I have learned from my previous positions and help the college grow is an opportunity I am very fortunate to have,” Simpson said.
One of the biggest projects Simpson said she will oversee this year is the implementation of Adrian College’s new website. It is expected to go live in the fall.
“The launching of the new website is my first goal as director. While we have all grown accustomed to the current website the last 10-plus years, including myself, it’s no surprise that we are in need of a refresh,” Simpson said. “I want to provide our audience with a website that isn’t just up to date but also user friendly and visually appealing. We have one of the most beautiful campuses and that should not go unseen by those that are visiting our webpage.”
While studying at Adrian College, Simpson was a co-captain of the Bulldogs’ cheerleading team, and the acrobatics and tumbling team. She presented research for the Ribbons of Excellence program, participated in study abroad and was a member of Sigma Tau Delta; a journalism fraternity on campus.
After earning a Master’s in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts from Central Michigan University in 2016, Simpson worked for three years in the advertising sector at Global Team Blue in Dearborn, Mich., negotiating and purchasing national advertisement spots for Lincoln and Ford Motor Co.
Simpson later advanced into a Sales Operations Coordinator role at General Scientific Corporation where she created communication channels between all departments, assisted in rebranding, and tracked sales activity, until the company limited staffing due to COVID-19.
Originally from Manchester, MI., Simpson currently resides in Adrian.
