Julia Versau '76

Jim Bull ‘76 sent in a photo of the Adrian alumni crowd at the celebration of life for Julia Versau ’76 which was held in Valparaiso, Ind., on March 9, 2019. She passed away in December 2018 after a short illness. Julia is survived by her three children, who hosted the event. Also surviving are two sisters, as well as former husbands Tim Barton and Doug Chamberlin ’76. Jim and Doug spoke for the AC alums gathered there. Jim wrote, “While we did grieve and shed a few tears, there was much more laughter and smiles at our pleasant memories of her.” Alumni who attended and are in the photo are: Front and sitting: Jim Bull ’76 and Stephen Kostyshyn ’76, Back Row: Dave Malmquist ’77, Brad Binks ’75, Sue Beach Binks ’76, Doug Chamberlin ’76, and Mark Knapp ’76. Dave called this their ’Big Chill Moment.’ Julia had talked for years about getting the old AC gang together again, preferably in northern Michigan.

Julia graduated from the University of Chicago with a master of divinity degree and spent her entire career working as a writer and a teacher, including serving as a professor of English and composition at Olivet College.
