Jack Vivian '66

Jack Vivian ’66, a member of the ATO fraternity and resident of Camden, Ohio, died February 17, 2021, after an 18-year battle with Parkinson disease. Jack, instrumental in the design and construction of Arrington Ice Arena at Adrian College, was a professor at Bowling Green State University, Miami University, and retired from the University of Michigan.

A native of Canada, after 47 years in the United States, Jack became an American citizen in 2008. He earned a master’s degree in 1967, and doctorate in 1990, from Bowling Green University. He was a frequent conference speaker, wrote numerous articles, feasibility studies and authored a facility management book.

Jack received numerous honors, including being presented the Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni award, and was inducted into the AC Athletic Hall of Fame in 1976. Jack also served as a trustee of the College from 2003-2008.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine, two sons, a daughter, a step-daughter, several grandchildren and a brother, Roy Vivian ’66.
