The Institute for Humanities and Cross-Cultural Studies reflects Adrian College’s commitment to creating an equitable learning and social environment, where a wide range of perspectives, experiences, and academic interests are promoted in and out of the classroom.

In particular, we aim to work with student organizations to promote community awareness of how social differences and cultural practices, as well as pressing contemporary issues related to race, class, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, and/or disability impact our society, our learning environment, and our personal growth. To promote these goals, we seek to provide scholarly platforms that allow Adrian College’s students to work as public intellectuals as they engage in political interests and social causes that enhance diverse and inclusive habits of mind.
