History of Theta Chi

One hundred and forty years ago Fredrick Norton Freeman and Arthur Chase founded Theta Chi Fraternity at Norwich University. Our chapter in Adrian was installed on October 24, 1964. Theta chi has a proud and rich history.

Theta Chi members are required to maintain high standards while they attend college. Scholarship is first and foremost at Theta Chi. Our maxim is "Alma mater for Theta Chi and Theta Chi for alma mater." This means that studies and scholarship must come first before the fraternity. Theta Chi’s scholarship program consists of, financial incentives for high GPA’s, three scholarships, study groups, tutors and much, much more.

Theta Chi prides itself on its outstanding relationship with our alumni. Theta Chi is for life. Our alumni remain a very active and important aspect of our chapter. They assist with the up keep of the chapter house, as well as providing financial assistance to the Brothers.

Theta Chi members are also encouraged to participate in other extracurricular activities beside the fraternity. Currently, Theta Chi Fraternity is well represented on Adrian’s campus. We have many leaders in many organizations, such as Student Government and Resident Life, in which we are well respected among many faculty, administrators and students. Theta Chi also has a member in every varsity sport here on Adrian’s Campus.

Creed:
I believe in Theta Chi, its traditions and its ideals.
Born of sturdy manhood, nurtured by resolute men,
enobled by high and sacred purpose, it has taken
its place among the educational institutions of America
as a promoter on knowledge, and advancer of
culture and a builder of character. *** It inspires true
friendship: teaches Truth, Temperance and Tolerance,
extols virtue, exacts harmony, and extends the helping
hand to all who seek it. *** I believe in the primacy of
Alma Mater: in the usefulness of my Fraternity, in its influence
and its accomplishments, and I shall do all in my
power to perpetuate its ideals, thereby serving my God,
my County, and my fellow-man. ***
