Sigma Alpha Epsilon was founded on four virtues: Loyalty, Friendship, Honor and Fraternity. We were founded at the University of Alabama on March 9, 1856. Since its origination, SAE has grown to more than 270 chapters nationwide including Canada and more than 255,000 initiates, thus enabling ourselves to be known as the largest social fraternity.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon was founded at Adrian College on January 22, 1887 making it the fiftieth chapter in the realm. Here we proudly display our pride everyday through the high ideals and values that are presented in "The True Gentleman." SAE is the oldest chapter at Adrian College and the first SAE chapter to be founded in Michigan.

Our members are involved in a variety of other activities and organizations other than the fraternity. Many of these include varsity athletic teams and executive members of Interfraternity Council (IFC). We are also involved with honor organizations such as Order of Omega and Mortar Board. Our chapter is also very active with the community of Lenawee County. Our major philanthropy events throughout the year are the Adopt-a-Highway program, collecting money for Alzheimer’s Association, and Rake-and-Run, a campus wide event.SAE has received many chapter awards in the past.

Our most prominent is the Chapter Achievement Award from our National. Our National has a large number and variety of scholarships that it provides to undergraduate brothers who excel academically.

Within Sigma Alpha Epsilon you will find strong friendships, memories, and a willingness to succeed that will stay with you for a lifetime.
