The brothers of
Phi Kappa Sigma would like to welcome new and returning
members of the Adrian College community. Phi Kappa Sigma
has and always will give young men an opportunity to
excel scholastically, culturally, socially and athletically.
Phi Kappa Sigma is located at 1234 Williams Street,
across from Ridge Student Center (white house).
Phi Kappa Sigma
was established by Samuel Brown Wylie Mitchell at the
University of Pennsylvania on August 16, 1850. Phi Kappa
Sigma was and still is the only fraternity with a college
or university named after it: Phi Kappa Sigma Male College
was established by James W. Barrow in Monticello, Arkansas
in 1859. The Adrian College chapter of Phi Kappa Sigma
originally began as Delta Theta fraternity. Negotiations
ceased with Delta Theta and the brothers came in contact
with James Welch who led them down the correct path
towards membership into Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Chapter awards
that Phi Kappa Sigma has earned in the past include
Best Chapter Newsletter, 1994-1995 and 1995-1996 and
Most Improved Chapter, 1995-1996. Our national offers
a variety of scholarships and sends two members to UIFI
(Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute).
Our members are
not only involved in community activities but are active
on the Adrian College campus. Our members can be seen
participating in Adrian College intercollegiate athletics,
football, basketball, and baseball. They also hold a
number of leadership positions in groups such as IFC,
SGA, Order of Omega. Memebrs are also involved as sponsors
for Children International, and coaches for YMCA youth
basketball teams.
