Fin-Com replaces CAB

Adrian College’s Student Government Association is proud to announce some structural changes. The Organization has reformulated its financial treasury. The new system is formulated to have more checks and balances allowing SGA to better monitor the disbursement of funds. The new title for this committee, formerly known as the Campus Activities Board, or CAB, is now Fin-Com. Fin-Com will have seven voting members from SGA along with the Executive Vice President and the Commissioner of Class Officers heading the committee. Any organization that receives money from Fin-Com must have a representative regularly attend SGA meetings. These meetings are held Monday nights at 8:00pm in the Hickman Board Room, located in the Caine Student Center (meeting times and dates will be available on the SGA website). This allows for greater attendance at meetings and more input on various issues regarding campus life. If an organization fails to supply a representative for the SGA meetings, they will be penalized five percent of the overall total they were allotted by Fin-Com. Students will be encouraged to fundraise for their events as another way to ensure accountability. The new system will be more effective and efficient. Fin-Com meetings for fund allotment will be Thursday September 27th @ 4:00 pm, for fall semester, and Thursday November 1 @ 4:00 pm, for the spring of ’08. If you have questions, concerns or would like a copy of the by-laws, please stop by the Student Activities Office.

Fin-Com

Fin-Com is a panel of students who represent the student body of Adrian College. Fin-Com is advised by the Student Activities Coordinator, governed by the Student Government Association (SGA) and chaired by the Executive Vice-President of SGA. Fin-Com reviews and evaluates funding requests from all recognized student organizations and then allocates an amount based on available funds and the request’s adherence to evaluation criteria. The board focuses on ensuring quality and diversity throughout the scheduled events on campus.
