Counseling Services can help students gain
an understanding that leads to a resolution
of problems. Individual and group counseling
focuses on helping develop a sense of competence,
learning to meet increased or different academic
and social demands, resolving interpersonal
conflict, managing drug/alcohol related problems,
depression or anxiety, resolving losses and
other areas. If a student requires long-term
counseling, referral to a local professional
is usually made following an assessment by
the counselor and student.
Counseling Services is staffed
by qualified clinicians, experienced in working
with college students. A variety of theoretical
orientations and intervention styles are employed.
Services are provided to registered students
of Adrian College at no cost.
All discussions between
counselors and students are confidential and
no information can be released to anyone within
the College or outside of it without the student’s
written request. This is in keeping with the
ethics code of the American Psychological
Association.
Counseling Services provide
short-term individual counseling, which focuses
on current difficulties. It also offers support
groups, presentations and workshops each semester.
New programs are offered during the year in
response to student requests or needs.
Appointments can be arranged
