Greek
life provides numerous opportunities for students to
enhance their college experience. Approximately one
of every four Adrian College students is a member of
a fraternity or sorority. All Greek chapters on campus
are nationally affiliated and include three sororities
(Alpha
Sigma Alpha, Alpha
Phi and Chi
Omega) and four fraternities (Alpha
Tau Omega, Phi
Kappa Sigma, Sigma
Alpha Epsilon and Theta
Chi). Greek organizations emphasize scholarship,
service and philanthropy, leadership and campus involvement.
All
fraternities and sororities recruit members each semester.
The women conduct their formal recruitment program September
and the men also emphasize a fall recruitment. No alcohol
is permitted at any time, regardless of age, during
recruitment activities.
Lowry
and Herrick halls are home to all three sororities.
The four fraternities reside in College-owned houses
located on the campus perimeter. Students are not permitted
to live in a Greek housing unit during the semester
that they are pledging. Students may move into fraternity
or sorority housing at the start of the following semester
provided pledging began before the seventh week of the
previous semester and their grade point average meets
chapter and Interfraternity
Council or Panhellenic
Council requirements. First year students are not
permitted to live in any Greek housing unit during their
first semester at Adrian College.
