Bulldogs blank Maple Leafs

ADRIAN, Mich.-- Lindsay Chitwood and Kelley Hutchins both scored goals as the Adrian College women's soccer team defeated Goshen College 2-0 on Saturday.

The scoreless tie was broken in the 14th minute when Sarah Evans fed a ball over the top of the Goshen defense to teammate Lindsay Chitwood, who then finished the break-away with her fourth goal of the season.

The game would remain 1-0 in favor of the Bulldogs for most of the game until Adrian capitalized on a corner kick situation. Melissa Rederstorf crossed the corner kick to the far post, where teammate Justin Cornell's header was blocked by the Maple Leafs' defense back to the open Hutchins, who then buried the shot from inside the six yard box.

Amanda House and her teammates kept the visiting Maple Leafs off the board. The best scoring opportunity for the Maple Leafs came in the second half when Lucy Roth blasted a shot from 18 yards out, but the shot was saved by House. The Bulldogs held the advantage in corner kicks and shots in the game with 2-0 and 14-5 respectively.

The Adrian College women's soccer team is in action again on Monday, September 10 when they host the Bethel College Pilots at the Multi-Sport Performance Stadium at 6 p.m.
