Bulldogs
advance, beat Hornets 78-66
Adrian will travel to #2 Calvin College tomorrow
at 7:30 p.m.
ADRIAN,
Mich.—The
Adrian College women’s basketball team will
live another day after defeating Kalamazoo College,
78-66, in the play-in game of the MIAA tournament.
The
Bulldogs with travel to second-ranked Calvin College
on Tuesday to face the top-seeded Knights at 7:30
p.m. Calvin swept the regular season series and
has won every match up with AC since a 61-53 Bulldog
win at the Merillat Center in January of 2003.
On
Monday night Adrian’s balanced scoring included
nine players scoring four or more points, with
freshman guard Anita Stamps registering a game-high
18 points on 7-of-12 shooting with two triples.
Junior guard Nichole Roose hit 9-of-9 free throws
in the win and is now shooting 96% from the line.
She ended with 17 points, while senior Priscilla
Yeagley had 11 points, hitting two-straight triples.
Freshman
center Kim Olech had a good game inside with eight
points and nine boards. The Bulldog defense forced
26 Hornet turnovers and held the visitors to nine
offensive rebounds.
Kalamazoo
was led by Nyemade Cooper’s 17 points on
8-of-11 shooting. Kelsea Howell added 16 points.
Adrian
is now 9-15 on the season, while Kalamazoo ends
the 2006-07 season at 3-22.
