fall 65-69 at Alma College
Stamps paces Adrian with 19 points
ALMA,
Mich.—
The Adrian College women’s basketball team
fell 65-69 at Alma College on Wednesday evening,
dropping to 3-11 in the MIAA and 8-13 overall.
Freshman
guard Anita Stamps, who had 19 points, and freshman
center Kim Olech, with 18, led the Bulldogs back
from a 14-point halftime deficit to take a 52-50
lead when junior guard Nichole Roose hit a three
at the 7:34 mark of the second half.
The
Scots, however, rattled off six unanswered points
and answered a Priscilla Yeagley triple at the
5:12 mark with buckets on three-straight possessions
to take control of the game and improve to 10-10
overall and 6-7 in the MIAA.
Yeagley
ended the game with 12 points, nine in the second
half, hitting four three pointers. Olech led the
Bulldogs with eight rebounds.
A
14-2 run by the home team in the first half, gave
the Scots their commanding lead at intermission.
Alma
was led by Ashley Matuzak’s 24 points, with
four triples of her own. The Scots held a 40-33
advantage on the boards, and were 19-of-24 from
the line, compared to Adrian’s 7-for-9.
Adrian
will host Tri-State University on Saturday at
3 p.m. The Thunder were 4-18 (2-12 MIAA) after
falling 44-58 at home to Calvin tonight.
