TSU downs Adrian for first MIAA
win
ANGOLA,
Ind.—The Adrian College women’s
basketball team fell 69-74 at Tri-State University
on Saturday afternoon, dropping to 7-8 (2-6 MIAA)
on the season.
Freshman
guard Anita Stamps led the Bulldogs with 15 points
on 7-of-11 shooting, while freshman center Kim
Olech added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Adrian
hit 47% of their shots from the floor, but committed
23 turnovers against the Thunder’s full-court
pressure. TSU was led by Kelly Rogers, who netted
16 points.
Tri-State
built a 24-14 lead 10-minutes into the game, but
a 13-2 Adrian run over the next six minutes gave
the visitors a lead that they held until halftime,
going into the break up 40-39.
The
Thunder held an eight point advantage with 3:22
left, but a 7-0 run by AC brought the Bulldogs
to within one after a Stamps lay up at the 1:42
mark.
A
lay up by Claire Will and two free throws by Sarah
Howe, however, kept the game out of reach and
gave TSU their second MIAA win in the last two
seasons.
Adrian
will next face Saint Mary’s on Saturday
when they travel to South Bend, Ind. for a 3 p.m.
tip off.
