The
Adrian College Athletic
Department named Lori
Papineau as its new head
coach on March 1, 2006.
A former standout at Augustana
College, Papineau brings
a strong volleyball background
and a track record of
success to the Bulldogs’
powerful lineup.
Papineau’s first
stint as a head coach
came last year at Lawrence
University.
“I’m
excited about the direction
that Adrian College is
going in,” stated
Papineau. “I’m
very happy to join Adrian
at this time in their
new direction.”
After
finishing 8-25 in 2004,
Papineau guided Lawrence
to a 10-15 mark in her
only season as head coach.
Under her leadership,
Lawrence had two players
named to the All-Conference
Team and two others named
to the Academic All-Conference
Team.
Prior
to becoming a head coach,
Papineau served as the
assistant volleyball coach
for Lakeland College for
two seasons, in which
she was in charge of recruiting,
conditioning and developing
the team’s entire
spring season and practice
plans. Lakeland advanced
to the NCAA Tournament
in both seasons (2003,
2004) and produced 10
All-Conference performers,
two All-Region players,
an All-American Honorable
Mention Student-Athlete
and a First-Team Academic
All-American Student Athlete.
In 2003, the Lakeland
College volleyball team
received the American
Volleyball Coaches Association
(AVCA) Team Academic Award.
Papineau
was also the leader for
the Student Athletic Advisory
Committee and assistant
to the Intramural Director
while at Lakeland. She
has also served as a youth
volleyball coach for Lakeland
Attack VBC in Howards
Grove, Wisconsin and for
Dig This VBC in Davenport,
Iowa. Over three summers
(2003-05), Papineau ran
numerous volleyball camps
at high schools throughout
Wisconsin and one at North
Chicago High School.
Papineau
was a four-year player
on the Augustana College
volleyball team. As a
captain during her senior
campaign, Papineau was
selected to the All-CCIW
First Team and was named
to four All-Tournament
teams, including the CCIW
Tournament. She was also
voted as Augustana’s
Most Valuable Player as
a senior.
Papineau
is completing her Masters
of Education degree from
Lakeland College. She
is a May 2003 graduate
of Augustana College,
where she earned Bachelor
of Arts degrees in Mathematics
and Computer Science.
The
Bulldogs finished the
season 21-7 overall and
advanced to the MIAA semifinals
for just the second time
in school history since
the league tournament
was started in 1999.
“This
team already knows how
to win. With a record
like last year, they've
already proved that.”
added Papineau. “A
MIAA Championship and
competing in the NCAA
tournament are immediate
goals of mine for the
upcoming year.”
