Bulldog Volleyball splits first two of ‘06

ELMHURST, Ill.—The Adrian College volleyball team split their first two games of the 2006 season, losing to Simpson College before downing Augustana at the Elmhurst College Invitational on Friday evening.

In game one against Simpson, the Bulldogs lost a marathon two-and-a-half hour affair. Falling in four games; 36-38, 18-30, 30-27, 30-32, Adrian was led by Lindsey Eshelman with 22 kills. Abby Sikora tallied 50 assists, while Samantha Mercy totaled 26 digs.

Against Augustana, the Bulldogs pulled out the win in four games; 14-30, 30-25, 30-24, 30-25. Eshelman, Holly Pellegrin, and Jenny Carlson each had nine kills. Sikora again led in assists with 34 and Mercy was equally impressive with 20 digs.

At 1-1, the Bulldogs will play Carleton College at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the second day of the Elmhurst Invitational.
