Bulldog Tennis downs Defiance
AC sweeps doubles play
ADRIAN,
Mich.—The Adrian College men’s
tennis team earned their first win of the season
with a 7-2 triumph over Defiance College on
Tuesday afternoon at the Merillat Center.
The
Bulldogs swept the doubles matches with Mike
Douglas and Blake Childs winning 8-5 in the
first slot. Steven Kerwin and Danny Krsteski
also won 8-5 in #2 doubles, while Ryan Schmidli
and Orlo Yeagley won 8-2 at third doubles.
Krsteski
won 6-4, 6-1 at second singles, while Kerwin
downed DC’s Ashton Converse 6-1, 6-0 in
the third slot. Childs won 6-3, 5-7 (10-7) at
fifth singles and Schmidli downed Mike Mack
6-3, 6-0 in sixth singles play.
The
win is head coach David Kurvink’s first
at Adrian College.
The
Bulldogs, 1-6 on the year, will next travel
to St. Joseph’s College (Ind.) on Sunday
at 1 p.m.
