AC women’s tennis hangs with
Cougars
Passion of team shows through in season-opening
loss
ADRIAN,
Mich.—The Adrian College women’s
tennis team opened the 2007 season with a hard-fought
loss against NAIA-foe Spring Arbor University,
4-5, at the Merillat Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Lindsey
Eshelman won both of her matches, including
a 7-5, 6-4 win at first singles over Cara Wall.
She teamed with Karen Kruisenga at first doubles
for an 8-2 win over Wall and Anna Cotton.
The
Bulldogs received two default wins in third
singles and third doubles.
Head
tennis coach David Kurvink spoke of the Bulldogs’
first match.
“It
was a hard-fought loss. The passion of the team
really came through. This has prepared us and
we will come through when this situation presents
itself again.”
Adrian
will get their next chance at a win in Hilton
Head, South Carolina, when they face Mercyhurst
on Monday, February 26.
