ADRIAN, Mich.--
The
Adrian College men’s and women’s
tennis teams are currently taking part in
their first pre-season
under first-year head coach David Kurvink.
Kurvink took the wheel of
the Bulldog Tennis program after serving
as the assistant tennis and squash coach
at St. Lawrence University.
The men’s squad boasts
a handful of experienced players. Leading
the way will be senior Danny Krsteski and
sophomore Mike Douglas. The pair posted
a 10-5 doubles record a year ago. Junior
Steve Kerwin and senior Ryan Schmidli will
also contend for top positions this spring.
The women’s team has
a core of upperclassmen leadership in senior
Karen Kruisenga and junior Lindsey Eshelman.
Both will look to earn key points at or
near the top of the ladder. Ellen Kroll
and Leann Brooks, both sophomores, are working
to solidify their spots, while tutoring
the first-year Bulldogs.
The Adrian men’s first
match is February 19 at Spring Arbor University.
They will open their home slate when they
host rival Defiance College on March 6.
The women’s first match is February
21, when they host Spring Arbor.
From February 25 to March
3, both teams will travel to Hilton Head,
S.C., where they will each play three matches
in five days.
Kurvink commented on the
upcoming trip to the south.
