AC falls in game one shootout,
game two postponed
Nightcap rescheduled for April 22 at 1 p.m.
ADRIAN,
Mich.—
The Adrian College softball team was defeated
by Olivet College 11-10 in game one of a Monday
double-header on the campus of Adrian College
before game two was called due to cold temperatures.
The
make-up date for the second game is Sunday, April
22 at 1 p.m., also at Adrian College.
In
the game one loss, Adrian trailed 9-3 going into
the bottom of the fourth, when the hosts plated
four runs on RBI from Krissy Sheets and Carly
Toth. The Bulldogs later trailed 11-7 in the bottom
of the sixth when Meghan Lohr and Jenna Kloster
doubled in runs to make the score 11-10.
The
Adrian pitching staff was unable to slow down
the Comet offense, giving up three doubles and
two home runs. Starter Lindsay Mandeville went
three innings, allowing nine earned runs on 12
hits with a strike out and two walks. Andrea Vangoss
came on in relief, going four innings and giving
up four runs, two earned, with a strike out and
three walks.
Meghan
Stevens went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Carmen
Batway drove in two runs and scored two herself
in a 1-for-2 performance. Katie Kilimas was 2-for-3
with a run, while Sheets was 2-for-4 with three
runs and an RBI.
Adrian
is now 11-4 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA. Olivet
is 13-6, 1-2 in conference play.
The
Bulldogs will travel to Hope College tomorrow
for a 3 p.m. double-header.
