AC Softball routs MSOE in sweep,
14-2 and 22-0
Demaree and Batway go long, Vangoss nearly perfect
in game two
ORLANDO,
Fla.—The Adrian College softball
team has started the 2007 season with a four-game
winning streak after thumping the Milwaukee School
of Engineering by scores of 14-2 and 22-0 in a
double-header at the Wide World of Sports in Disney
World.
In
game one, the Bulldogs were led offensively by
Jen Demaree who hit a home run and ended with
two RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Jenna
Kloster was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and
a run. The Bulldogs stole 11 bases as a team,
with Emily McLane swiping a team-high three.
Starter
Lindsay Mandeville went three innings, allowing
two hits and had three K’s. Heather Tanner
pitched two innings in relief, striking out four
and allowing no hits.
Game
one was called after the fifth inning due to the
mercy rule.
Just
when MSOE thought it could not get any worse,
game two saw AC go on an even bigger run.
The
Bulldogs reeled off 22 runs with Carmen Batway
living up to her name with a home run, four RBI
and two runs in a 2-for-2 performance at the plate.
Carly Toth added a triple, an RBI and two runs,
going 2-for-4. Adrian put up 17 hits and committed
no errors in the field in game two.
Andrea
Vangoss registered a complete game shut out and
allowed just one base runner on a fifth-inning
lead-off double. The junior transfer is yet to
allow a run after her first two career appearances.
Adrian,
4-0, will face the Community College of Baltimore
County-Dundalk in a double header tomorrow with
the first pitch of game one scheduled for 9 a.m.
in Orlando.
