Mandeville shuts out Lyndon State in game one
Vangoss matches with complete
game shut out in game two
ORLANDO,
Fla.—The Adrian College softball
team opened the 2007 season with a 3-0 win in
game one and an 8-0 rout in game two over Lyndon
State College (Vermont) at the Disney Wide World
of Sports Complex in Orlando.
Sophomore
Lindsay Mandeville hurled a complete-game, three-hit
shut-out to get the win in game one.
Offensively
in the first game, the Bulldogs had five hits
with sophomore Carmen Batway smacking a double,
while Katie Kilimas reached base three times with
two walks and a single, also scoring a run. Krissy
Sheets, another sophomore had a single and a stolen
base. Freshman Meghan Lohr had two stolen bases
for Adrian.
Andrea
Vangoss threw a complete game shut out in game
two, allowing five hits and four walks, while
striking out four.
Sheets
was 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Emily McLane was 2-for-2 with two stolen bases
and scored three runs.
The
Bulldogs piled up 11 hits in game two.
Adrian
is 2-0 after their first day of competition and
will next face Milwaukee School of Engineering
on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Wide World of Sports.
