Bain scores lone goal in Bulldogs’ loss

ALMA,
Mich.-- Mark Daisy scored twice to
lead the Alma College men’s soccer team
to a 4-1 victory over the Adrian College Bulldogs
at Scotland Yard.
Adrian (2-11-2, 2-6-2 MIAA) averted a shutout
when Brian Bain scored an unassisted goal at
the 75:19 mark. Alma (2-11-1, 1-9 MIAA) gave
first-year head coach Nathan Kronewetter his
first career conference win.
The Scots jumped to a 2-0 lead after goals by
Daisy and Ben Queen. Kevin Cross beat Adrian
goalkeeper Ryan O’Keefe for an unassisted
goal just over five minutes into the second
half, making it 3-0. Daisy added his second
goal of the day at the 67:31 mark, booting a
rebound past O’Keefe.
Bain caught Alma goalkeeper James Thomson out
of the net for his goal.
For the game, the Scots out shot Adrian 16-13.
Bain and Sean Dillon each had three shots to
lead the Bulldogs, while Tom Maxwell recorded
two shots. O’Keefe finished with four
saves in goal for Adrian.
Daisy had a game-high four shots to lead the
Scots. Thomson made six saves in goal for Alma.
The Bulldogs will return to action Oct. 24 when
they travel to Calvin College. The teams played
to a 2-2 tie at the Adrian College Performance
Stadium on Sept. 29.
