Athletic Director Emeritus/ Dir. of Athletic Development Henry Mensing
Henry Mensing, AC’s athletic director for the past 17 years, is now the director of athletic development. This newly-created position will focus on implementing the college’s strategic plan for athletic facility expansion and development.

Mensing assists the office of development and Adrian College president Dr. Jeffery Docking in fundraising efforts for the proposed tennis courts, proposed baseball and softball fields, and the proposed swimming and diving facility. In addition, Mensing will assist in creating the Adrian College Bulldog Club, a booster organization that will raise funds for AC Athletics.

Mensing continues his role as the point person regarding the construction of the new multi-sport athletic stadium and track & field complex.

Mensing’s tenure as Adrian’s athletic director saw great growth and success for the athletic department. The football team captured MIAA Championships in 1983, 1988, and 1989 while he was an assistant coach, and in 1997 during his stint as AD. Bulldog baseball also won back-to-back MIAA Championships the past two seasons, advancing to the NCAA Regionals in both years. Women’s basketball captured MIAA gold in 1991, while the softball team won the conference title in 1990, 1991, and 1993.

As an assistant football coach, Mensing served during various times as offensive coordinator, running backs coach, quarterbacks coach, and wide receivers coach. Last season, his core of receivers caught 135 passes for 1977 yards.

Mensing is an alumnus of Eastern Michigan University, earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from EMU.
