Adrian Ice Hockey class ranked as nation’s
best
Fogarty bringing in powerful group for Bulldogs’
inaugural season
ADRIAN,
Mich.—
Adrian College has captured the top 2007 recruiting
class in all of NCAA Division III men’s
ice hockey, according to collegehockeyrecruits.com.
As
the Arrington Ice Arena is being constructed on
the Adrian College campus, first-year head coach
Ron Fogarty has been building AC’s first
recruiting class. Fogarty and assistant coach
Brian Burke have landed student athletes from
all areas of Canada as well as regional talent.
Five
players from the Western Ontario Hockey League
(WOHL) and five from the North American Hockey
League (NAHL) will matriculate to AC in the fall,
while three players apiece will come from the
Alberta Junior (AJHL) and Ontario Provincial Hockey
Leagues (OPJHL). Two players were produced by
the United States (USHL) and Central Junior Hockey
Leagues (CJHL).
Adrian
has also recruited players from the British Columbia
(BCHL), Northern Pacific League (NORPAC) and New
England Prep School League (NEPSHC West), while
one student athlete will come directly from high
school.
Transfers
from an NCAA Division I and another NCAA Division
III school will complete the inaugural Adrian
College men’s ice hockey team.
Second
on collegehocleyrecruits.com’s list was
the University of Massachusetts- Boston, while
2007-08 Adrian College opponent Geneseo College
was ranked third.
The
Adrian College men’s varsity ice hockey
team will open the Arrington Ice Arena and their
2007-08 season on Friday, October 19 at 7 p.m.
versus Potsdam State University.
