| Adrian
College is proud to announce the newest inductees
into its Athletic Hall of Fame. Matt Carson, Richelle
“Riki” Carson-Emmendorfer, Stacy Pasch
Rellinger, Richard Seagert, A. Bernell Duke Wood
and Tom Sefcik will enter as the Class of 2005,
and will be recognized on Oct. 15 at halftime of
the homecoming football game against Olivet.
Matt
Carson ’94 –Track
Matt
Carson is remembered as one of the best to ever
run for the track and field squads.
Carson
was named All-American in 1992 and 1994, as well
as being named First Team All-MIAA in 1993 and
1994. A four year letter winner, Carson was the
400 meter champion in the MIAA in 1993 and 1994,
while also setting a school record in the 400
in 1993.
Matt’s
sister Riki is also being inducted this year.
Matt
is currently a Production Supervisor for the Adrian
Steel Company.
Carson
and his wife, Nicole (Adrian ’94), have
two children and reside in Sand Creek.
Richelle
“Riki” Carson-Emmendorfer ’92
– Track and Volleyball
Richelle “Riki” Carson-Emmendorfer
was a two-sport standout during her time at AC.
Riki was an All-American in track
and broke seven school records, five of which
still hold today. She was named the team MVP for
the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons and was also the
MIAA MVP during the 1991-92 season.
In volleyball, Carson-Emmendorfer
lettered for four years and was named Second Team
All-MIAA in 1989. A team captain in 1991-92, Carson-Emmendorfer
was named the Team MVP and All-MIAA during that
season as well.
Riki’s brother Matt is also
being inducted into the Adrian College Athletic
Hall of Fame.
Riki coached the men’s and
women’s track and cross country teams at
Adrian from 1996-2005. During her tenure as head
coach, she coached 19 NCAA national qualifiers,
eight NCAA All-Americans and one national champion.
Carson-Emmendorfer resides in
Adrian with her husband Eric.
Stacy
Pasch Rellinger ’93 – Track and Cross
Country
Stacy Pasch Rellinger was a two-sport
star at Adrian College during the early 90’s.
Pasch Rellinger competed in track and cross country,
excelling in both sports.
In track, Pasch Rellinger was
a four year letter winner and was named team MVP
in 1993. In cross country she lettered for three
years, while being named team MVP during the 1989,
1991 and 1992 seasons. She was also a Second Team
All-MIAA selection in 1993 in cross country. While
in track at AC, Pasch Rellinger broke four school
records, one of which still holds today (800m
– 2:15.3). She also was a NCAA qualifier
in the 800 meters.
Pasch Rellinger, who was also
named most outstanding senior athlete at Adrian
College, resides in Fremont, Ohio, with her husband
Ray.
Richard
Seagert ’65 – Basketball
Richard Seagert made a name for
himself during his time at AC on the hardwood.
A three year letter winner for AC, Seagert did
just about everything one could do during a career.
He was named First Team All-MIAA,
Team MVP, scored 1,031 points and was named team
captain. In 1965, Seagert set the school record
for rebounds in a single season and is currently
ranked 17th on the school’s all-time scorers
list.
A retired chemist, Seagert now
enjoys several projects, including private license
flying.
Seagert and his wife Donna (Adrian
’66) have three grown children and reside
in North Manchester, Ind.
A.
Bernell Duke Wood ’62 – Basketball,
Volleyball, Field Hockey
A. Bernell Duke Wood was a three
year letter winner for AC on the court during
the early 60’s. While at AC, Duke Wood also
participated in volleyball and field hockey.
After graduation Duke Wood became
involved with officiating, and has been doing
so over the last 25 years. She has officiated
the volleyball state finals in the state of Michigan
five times. She is also a member of the American
Cancer Society National Golf Championship Team.
Duke Wood, who taught at Huron
Valley Schools, is retired and is active in many
clubs and organizations.
Duke Wood and her husband have
two grown children and reside in Fenton.
Tom
Sefcik ’78 – Football and Baseball
Tom Sefcik was a two-sport athlete
at AC during his four years here. Sefcik was a
four year letter winner for football and was a
two year letter winner for baseball.
Sefcik enjoyed an outstanding
career in football for the Bulldogs. During his
stay at Adrian, he was named the Team MVP and
First Team All-MIAA in 1977. He was also the MVP
of the defense in 1976 and 1977. Sefcik received
the Head Hunter Award for leading the team in
tackles in 1975 through 1977, and led the MIAA
in interceptions in 1977.
Tom is currently employed by Nexcel
Synthetics.
Sefcik and his wife Lynnette reside
in Birmingham, Ala., and have two children.
