ANN
ARBOR, Mich.—Adrian
College’s all-time leading tackler Tavarski
“Taz” Wallace participated in the
University of Michigan’s NFL Pro Day on
Friday, showcasing his abilities to coaching staffs
and scouts from NFL teams.
The
linebacker, who ended his Adrian College career
with 429 career stops, joined 20 University of
Michigan football players, one Northwood University
student athlete, and fellow MIAA-stand out, Alma
College quarterback Josh Brehm, in the work out.
Of
the over 100 observers in attendance were Detroit
Lions head coach Rod Marinelli, Pittsburgh Steelers
head coach Mike Tomlin, and St. Louis Rams head
coach Scott Linehan, New York Jets defensive coordinator
Bob Sutton and Green Bay Packers general manager
Ted Thompson.
Wallace,
a graduate of Adrian’s Madison High School,
performed well for the scouts. He posted a 4.70
in the 40-yard dash, did 19 repetitions of 225
pounds on the bench press, hit 4.54 in the three-cone
drill, had a nine-foot broad jump, and recorded
a 33 1/2-inch vertical leap.
In
the NFL world, where every detail is taken into
account, the players were noted to have ran their
40-yard dash on a mondo track, while the remaining
drills took place on FieldTurf, inside the Schembechler
Hall practice facility.
His
official height and weight were also recorded
at 5-11 1/2 and 225 pounds.
Adrian
College fans know Wallace as someone that rises
to the occasion, and Friday was no different.
Competing against Michigan linebackers Lamar Woodley,
Prescott Burgess and David Harris, all three projected
to go in the first three rounds of April’s
draft, “Taz” made a name for himself
in linebacker drills, prompting meetings and interviews
with several NFL teams.
Wallace’s
work out results are now posted on the National
Football League’s website, as compiled by
draft guru Gil Brandt.
