“EXPECT TO WIN”
“Expect to Win” This is our overall
purpose. As Adrian College Bulldogs we expect
to win in every phase of life…Classroom,
on the practice/game field, and as a human being.
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING PHILOSOPHY
I. Total Body Conditioning
|
|
II.
Train Like an Athlete – Physically
In the Adrian College strength program, our primary
focus is producing better athletes. We avoid the
mindset of the typical body builder who trains specific
muscle groups. We train athletic movements. To the
best of our ability, we make our movements functional
to simulate movements that are made on a football
field.
a) Train Athleticism
b) Train Explosiveness
c) Train the Core of the Body
III. Train Like an Athlete – Mentally
In regards to Mental Toughness, the mind must be
trained for the rigors and intensity of competition.
“Adjust with Poise!” During competition
momentum shifts several times in or out of our favor.
With this in mind we must emphasize the following
principles:
a) The Champion’s Attitude
b) Self-Discipline
c) Teamwork
IV. Emphasize Improvement
Rather than numbers, we administer several strength,
speed, agility, and conditioning tests to measure
our improvement over the course of our athletes’
careers. These tests give us percentages for strength
and training purposes. We do set goals for our student-athletes
to hit; however, we continually stress the importance
to WORK HARD, IMPROVE DAILY AND EXPECT TO WIN!
EXPECTING TO WIN
This Program Will be Prepared to Meet the Following
Objectives:
1. To increase and maintain functional range of
motion (flexibility).
2. To increase and maintain total body strength
levels for improved performance and reduce likelihood
of serious injury.
3. To increase functional muscular mass –
which will enhance your ability for greater power
output.
4. To keep percentage of body fat at an acceptable
and efficient level.
5. To improve muscular endurance.
6. To improve cardiovascular efficiency.
7. To improve quickness and speed.
8. To acclimate athletes to the heat and humidity
of summer.
9. To prepare athletes for conditioning tests.
10. To make our athletes MENTALLY and PHYSICALLY
TOUGHER!
11. TO EXPECT TO WIN!!!

MISSION STATEMENT
THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM!!! Everything we do
in our program revolves around the team. The team
can only progress through our core values of HARD
WORK, IMPROVING DAILY AND EXPECTING TO WIN. We commit
ourselves to each other through these principles.
This is how we will reach our full potential as
a unit.
I. We are committed to growing mentally, physically,
and spiritually; and we recognize the true meaning
of “student-athlete”…the student
is always first.
II. In life we never stay the same, we get better
or worse everyday. We strive to improve daily through
the unremitting execution of fundamentals. We compete
to be the best. We will play and train with toughness
and effort to do what is necessary to become CONFERENCE
AND NATIONAL CHAMPIONS. Play by play, day by day,
compete everyday to become the best.
III. We will respect the proud Adrian College tradition
of the past and will provide greatness and tradition
for the future. We will live by the principle of
never embarrassing ourselves, our team, our institution
or our community.
IV. We gladly accept the responsibility
placed before us to represent the proud tradition
of Adrian College Football! |
