Denryter, Spangler honored by MIAA
ADRIAN,
Mich.—Two
Adrian College Bulldogs have been honored by the MIAA
as the conference’s players of the week for
their efforts in Saturday’s 42-10 win over Tri-State
University.
Senior
quarterback Andy Denryter of Clinton Township (Chippewa
Valley HS) was involved in 32 of his team's points.
He completed 16-of-21 for 236 yards and three touchdowns,
rushed for two touchdowns and scored on a two-point
PAT conversion.
Denryter’s
play has improved each week in his first season as
the squad’s starting signal-caller. He has now
thrown for 1170 yards, completing 60% of his passes
with nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions (four in
first game).
Sophomore
defensive end Matt Spangler of Delta, Ohio (Delta
HS) had two quarterback sacks, two other tackles for
lost yardage and a pass interception in the Bulldogs'
win. He finished with eight tackles, five of them
solos, and had two quarterback hurries.
Spangler
has been the biggest surprise of the Bulldogs’
stellar defensive unit this season. The sophomore
is third on the team with 31 tackles. He has also
posted 6.0 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks.
AC is now
3-3 on the season and 2-1 in the MIAA. They will next
travel to Hope College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kick
off against the Dutchmen.
